What Engine Does Dimraeth Use? Unity Evidence, No Official Statement

The developer has never stated Dimraeth's engine. The strongest first-party evidence is Mudtek's job posting requiring Unity and Shader Graph for spell VFX.

The developer has never directly stated which engine Dimraeth runs on. The strongest first-party evidence is Mudtek’s own job posting for a VFX Artist (Unity / Shader Graph), which asks for deep Unity proficiency and for shaders to be authored in Unity Shader Graph for spell effects, environment work and stylised rendering — on Dimraeth specifically. That is enough to say the team’s art and effects workflow is built on Unity, but it is not a statement that the shipping build is a Unity project. The confirmed technical facts are more immediately useful anyway: Windows only, DirectX 11 minimum, 5 GB minimum storage, and a GTX 750-class floor, which reads like an indie game targeting the widest possible hardware range.

So “officially confirmed engine” is not a claim anyone can make right now. Any page presenting it as confirmed needs to show the official source.

The strongest evidence: Mudtek’s own job posting

The developer’s public listing for the Dimraeth project includes:

  • Job title: VFX Artist (Unity / Shader Graph);
  • Project description: Dimraeth as a top-down 2D multiplayer RPG with a handcrafted pixel world, entering Early Access in 2026;
  • Requirement: deep proficiency in Unity with a strong command of Shader Graph;
  • Responsibility: author shaders in Unity Shader Graph for spell effects, environment work and stylised rendering;
  • Responsibility: build and maintain UI shaders for menus, HUD elements, tooltips and interactive interface moments;
  • Responsibility: optimise effects and shaders for performance across target platforms.

The same listing was posted by Mudtek itself in a public developer community, confirming it reflects real production needs.

How much weight it carries: it shows the team’s rendering and effects pipeline is Unity plus Shader Graph, and Dimraeth is what that pipeline produces, so Unity is highly likely. But a job requirement describes a workflow, not a runtime build, so it is presented here as strongly supported inference rather than confirmed fact.

Third-party metadata is weak evidence

A third-party game data site once listed the Dimraeth demo’s technology as Unity. When we tried to verify it, the site refused automated access, so it cannot be checked. It points at the same conclusion as the job posting, but two unverifiable sources still do not replace an official statement.

Confirmed technical facts

These hold regardless of the engine and can be quoted directly:

What that implies for performance

Only two conclusions are defensible:

  1. Coverage mattered more than a graphical ceiling. A GTX 750-class minimum with 4 GB of RAM suggests the developer wants most modern laptops and desktops to run it, which is a sensible target for a pixel-art top-down RPG.
  2. Effects and shaders are the performance-sensitive part. The job posting lists optimising effects and shaders across target platforms as an explicit responsibility, which fits a game selling elemental combat as a core feature.

Frame rates, resolutions and per-scene performance are not estimated here: those need testing, and the developer has published no performance figures.

Modding: no official position at all

This needs saying because people often assume a Unity project is easy to mod. The developer has never mentioned mod support, has announced no Workshop plans, and has published no mod tools or API documentation. As of 14 September 2026, modding is entirely unknown: it is neither confirmed nor ruled out.

Four ways to check it yourself

  1. Follow official announcements and developer replies in the official Discord;
  2. Read Mudtek’s own job listings, which expose the studio’s tech stack;
  3. After Early Access launches, inspect the installed files and the credits;
  4. Treat the official FAQ and store page as final, not third-party metadata mirrors.
