Dimraeth Characters & Companions: 6 Named NPCs, 9 Recruitable Pets
Only six named Dimraeth characters are officially introduced, plus nine recruitable pets unlocked by a side quest. What carries between worlds and what does not.
Only six named characters have been properly introduced by the developer: Alaric, Befr, Manga, Eldorian, Tamsin and Myrll, all based around Earlwood. On the companion side, the developer confirms nine recruitable pets arriving in Early Access, found across the world after a certain side quest, each with a unique upgradeable ability, storage capacity, the ability to carry materials home for you, and synergy with builds. The rule that changes how you plan is this: level, equipment, inventory, spells and personal progression follow your hero, while story progress, recruited allies and buildings stay tied to a specific world — so a companion you recruit in a friend’s save does not come home with you.
The six characters the developer has introduced
Alaric Audet. Presented as a legendary folk hero. Six foot four with a weathered, sun-tanned look and piercing blue eyes. Calm, focused and self-assured, he commands respect by example rather than by seeking approval.
Befr. A travelling merchant with a caravan in Earlwood Village who sells goods he insists are “of the most exceptional quality”. He greets everyone as “my friend” with a broad grin and his signature “Ho ho!” laugh, and stays relentlessly optimistic even as darkness spreads through the forest. The official description hides a hook: he speaks of ancient forces, knows things he probably should not, and has lived far longer than an ordinary trader. He claims to have spent a week living among dryad sisters, and that the squirrels owe him favours.
Manga. A former warrior of the Minotaur Empire, now Earlwood’s blacksmith. Exiled and marked by cut-off horns for refusing to join a brutal raid. He follows the peaceful philosophy of Praesidiism and believes true strength lies in protection rather than conquest, and won the village’s respect during the Goblin Crisis. He is a steady presence in the Guild Hall, as much a thinker as a craftsman.
Eldorian. A young elven adventurer with boundless curiosity and a heart full of wonder, usually the first to greet newcomers at the Guild Hall. Skilled with spear and spell, he splits his time between the forest and the Hall, chasing adventure, knowledge and the dream of becoming a hero.
Tamsin. A gifted enchanter with a passion for magical banners. Despite delicate health she is full of energy, curiosity and bright ideas, often talking faster than people can follow. Originally from the great city of Aldoria, she studied enchantment at the Academy of Arcana before setting out in search of freedom and purpose, and now lives in Earlwood.
Myrll. Exiled by the very forest she cherished, she lingers at its edge: silent, sorrowful and far from the creatures she once protected. Her ethereal form, marked by doe legs and a fox’s tail, reflects both her connection to the wild and the pain of severance. Officially she “no longer sings”, and her arc is one of healing and rediscovery.
One caveat: these six are the characters with published write-ups, not the game’s entire cast. The 2026-09-02 announcement mentions new quests and NPCs without giving a number. And the stone golem Basilton, who appears in a store screenshot, has no write-up in the official characters section, so he is not counted here as a confirmed story character.
Pets: nine of them, side-quest locked, and they carry your loot
- Count: nine unique pets added in Early Access (developer announcement).
- How to get them: complete a certain side quest, then find them across the world (announcement and developer replies).
- Abilities: each has a unique ability that levels up, and they synergise with builds.
- Logistics: they have storage capacity and can take items back to your base for you, while also fighting alongside you.
Names, individual abilities and numbers are unpublished — the developer has only given the count and screenshots. Any specific pet list online is community guesswork.
Pets are also a deliberate co-op design: they add both combat output and relief from the “I do not want another trip home” problem, which together with throwable potions gives co-op groups a real division of labour.
Companions and worlds: what travels, what does not
This is the rule to remember, because it decides how you and your friends arrange progress.
| Category | Belongs to | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Level | Your character | Carried between worlds |
| Equipment, inventory | Your character | Carried between worlds |
| Spells | Your character | Carried between worlds |
| Personal progression | Your character | Carried between worlds |
| Story progress | The world | Does not complete for friends, and is not overwritten by them |
| Recruited allies | The world | A companion recruited elsewhere does not follow you home |
| Buildings | The world | Shared builds belong to whoever owns the save |
The developer’s own explanation of co-op says the same thing: quest progression is tied to the world rather than the player file, so quests you finish in a friend’s world still need doing in your own.
Stronghold NPCs are part of your character sheet
“Characters” also has a functional meaning here: the NPCs you recruit into your stronghold are services you unlock.
- Stronghold NPCs craft spellbooks for you from monster and boss materials, which is the main route to universal magic.
- Investing materials in an ally’s facilities expands shop inventories, adds new crafting services and opens more farming plots.
- Main-story progress and quest completion decide how many of those services you can unlock.
Recruiting, in other words, is progression investment rather than collection.
What is still unconfirmed
- The full character and NPC roster;
- The nine pets’ names, abilities and acquisition conditions;
- Step-by-step recruitment requirements and locations;
- A summoner concept the developer mentioned in a community reply, which is a design discussion rather than confirmed content;
- Relationship and romance details, covered on the romance page, which likewise rests on a single official sentence.
